Cranford is a book that, in the forward of my edition of Cranford, Gaskell called it the only one of her books that she rereads, and the book that she reads if she needs to laugh. In fact, Dickens included some of her works in his magazine, Household Words. ![]() As the author of such classics as North and South and Wives and Daughters, Gaskell lived and wrote at the same time as Charles Dickens – who was also often her Editor. From her short stories to her novels, she has a style of writing I think both entertains and educates. ![]()
